As you all know, I am a huge fan of products that live up to their hype. For this reason, I usually remain very loyal to Benefit Cosmetics when it’s time to get all dolled up. However, my mom recently gave me the Maybelline Super Stay gloss (number 080, in Infinite Petal), and I’m not one to turn down free gifts.
Before trying it, I looked it up on the Maybelline web page to see what the company claimed that this miraculous lip gloss could do. Some of the benefits, according to their marketing team, are no caking, fading, feathering or transferring. Obviously, the name also suggests that it will remain on your mouth for 24 hours. I am usually skeptical of products that make this claim because they almost always disappoint, but I was willing to give this one a chance.
I tried it out the next day and absolutely loved it! Just to note, there is a two -step process that you need to follow or it won’t work. First, the instructions had me apply the gloss. I applied a thin layer on my upper and lower lips. Then, I waited 2 minutes for the gloss to dry. I have to say that the sensation of actually feeling it dry on my lips was really strange. However, after the 2 minutes were up, I applied the balm. I loved how soft and smooth the balm immediately made my lips! The color was perfect for my skin tone (thanks mom!). So far, so good. I went about my day, having lunch, dinner, and even giving some smooches to the fiancé, and the color stayed put. I must admit that even though the color stayed on literally all day and night, touch ups are needed every few hours to keep that fresh glossy look. I’ve used other “24 hour” glosses that tend to streak, choosing only certain parts of my lips to keep colored, and in the process, making me look like my lips are bleeding. This is not so with the Maybelline Super Stay. An added bonus was that when I woke up in the morning, my lips were still a light pink, which kind of made me feel like a movie star. J
I will definitely be buying some different shades of this product, and I would recommend that you all give it a try. There are 35 shades to choose from and each gloss runs about $8. Happy shopping!
